Preciosas las tres versiones. Me resultaría difícil ponerlas en orden de mejor a menos mejor, quizá la que menos me guste sea la de Muse. Me hace gracia que uno de los de Muse lleve una camiseta de la CCCP.
Señor Anónimo, no entiendo qué tiene que ver Ajax con la canción de Muse. Me imagino que se referirá a Ajax Telamonio, que luchó en la guerra de Troya. Explíquese.
Pues vaya, a mi la de Muse me parece que queda muy bien (en directo sobre todo queda muy bonita, por cierto que vuelven en Noviembre a Madrid y Barcelona).
Sin embargo discrepo en su simpatía por esa camiseta de la CCCP. Siempre me han parecido bastante borreguiles todos los muchachos que la llevan (en mujeres la he visto mucho menos). No sé, es algo tan espantoso como esas camisetas del Ché o esas personas que decoran sus paredes con cuadros de Elvis, Marilyn Monroe o la Hepburn (esto es algo que el Feng Shui no recomienda nada, y yo tampoco)
Pero bueno, su pregunta acerca de mi afórico comentario me deja sorprendido. Mi enjundioso comentario no versaba sobre la juvenil música, sino sobre el peligro que conlleva la satisfacción que evidenciaban las palabras de nuestra anfitriona y la misma letra que ha puesto. Todo el mundo entenderá que estoy hablando de la hybris o hibris(me disculparán que no lo ponga en griego pues no tengo ni idea de ello) y cómo Ajax(yo siempre me hago un lío con los dos Ajax, para que me entiendan yo hablo del de las ovejas) fue castigado por ello. (Supongo que por el hecho de que saque en liza a la hybris todo el mundo tendrá que admitir que soy extraordinariamente inteligente, y yo mismo siento grandes inclinaciones a hacerlo, pero como no quiero que me caiga un rayo o tener que cambiar los amortiguadores guardaré un discreto y modoso silencio sobre ello).
Si, llevar una camiseta de la CCCP es digno de un retrasado mental, es como llevar una camiseta del NSDAP. Y si tengo que escoger entre una camiseta del Che Guevara o de Heydrich, prefiero a la de este último, que al menos a éste le gustaba Mozart (después de todos ambos eran más o menos asesinos y gustaban de ir de uniforme).
Entiendo, optimista y querida Donna, que su mención de la Hepburn se refiere a la infernal Audrey y no a la encantadora Katherine, de otro modo tendría que desafiarla. Si puedo hacer alusión a los instintos más bajos(siento defraudar a mis seguidores pero algunas veces también soy humano) en vez de ducha fría me basta un pensamiento en la bruja ésta. Siempre me he preguntado por qué en Charada Cary Grant no se va con James Coburn(bueno, quizás porque estaba muerto, pero dejemos ese aspecto) y no con esa pseudocopia de Maria Callas.

Sr. Anónimo, le agradezco mucho su reflexión sobre hybris, pero no termino de ver mi reflejo en ella ¿será por qué padezco el síndrome? ¿es usted mi némesis?
Pongamos un poco de orden en los Ajax. Hay dos y los dos lucharon en la guerra de Troya. El de las ovejas es Ajax el Grande o Ajax Telamonio y no es el que fue castigado por los dioses por su hibris.
El otro Ajax, el Menor, fue uno de los que penetraron en Troya dentro del Caballo y violó a Casandra debajo de un altar dedicado a Atenea. Ésta en venganza, con ayuda de Poseidón, hizo naufragar su nave de regreso a Grecia. Ajax quedó inconsciente sobre en unas rocas y cuando despertó se burló del dios porque no había conseguido matarlo. Para su desgracia, como si de una respuesta se tratase, una mano sosteniendo un tridente emergió de las aguas y se lo arrojó. El arma atravesó el pecho de Ayax y le ensartó a la roca, matándole al instante. Fue castigado por su hibris.
Otra que también fue castigada por su hibris fue Casandra, que tenía el don de la profecía, pero Apolo la castigó a no ser creída nunca.
Señor Anónimo, creo que ya he pillado el concepto de hibris.
Perdone, sus palabras me han hecho dudar y he consultado a alguien que es un oráculo para mí(supongo que para ustedes para los que seguramente soy un oráculo se asombrarán de que yo también lo tenga. Pues sí, sí que lo tengo). Aunque sus palabras no la han refutado digna Liuva, tampoco la han confirmado. ¿No puede entenderse como castigo por su hybris al Ayax ovejuno lo de su locura? Yo creo que sí, incluso me parece un castigo mucho más refinado por parte de los dioses, después de todo a cualquier imbécil le puede caer un rayo, pero cualquier imbécil no puede volverse loco(eso espero).

Yo no tengo simpatía por la camiseta CCCP, me horrorizaría vérmela puesta, pero me hace gracia verla puesta en gente progre. Igual que ver a otros con la del Che Guevara. ¿Qué camiseta se pondría el Che si estuviera vivo?
Hace tiempo salió una caricatura en una revista americana del Che con una camiseta de Bart Simpsons. El dibujante quiso igualar ambas personalidades. Bart Simpson es uno de los íconos pop más fuertes de la última década, y en el nombre de él y su familia amarilla se ha desarrollado una maquinaria de mercadeo casi tan grande como la del Che.
¿Empezamos otra vez con el tema de la Hepburn? Me voy a mi casa, mi hibris me la pone usted por los suelos.
Me parece a mí que entre todos hemos liado la madeja de una manera asombrosa.
Sin ánimo de contradecirle, Sr. Anónimo, y mucho menos a su ilustre oráculo (me pregunto cómo será éste, madre mía, para ser oráculo suyo), creo que tengo la misma impresión ajaxiana que la tía Liuva. A mí me parece que la referencia a la "hybris" gira en torno al Ajax no ovejero, es decir al que fulmina Poseidón por burlarse de él cuando no consigue acabar con él en el primer intento (cuyo motivo primigenio fue la violación de Casandra).
Ya que hemos citado a Casandra, y estamos, más o menos, en familia, ¿saben si el título de "El sueño de Casandra", película de Woody Allen, guarda alguna relación con este mito? Cuando la ví me lo estuve preguntando, pero pasado un tiempo sin hallar una respuesta convincente, pasé a otras cosas, como por ejemplo, aprender útiles recetas de cocina.
Pues a mi me parece mas híbrico el que alguien que se cree digno de las armas de Aquiles al no obtenerlas se vuelva loco. Pues si eso no es soberbia, orgullo y castigo por tal desmesura, creerse igual a un héroe, que me vuelva loco de inmediato. El hecho de que las dos honorables participantes me quiten la razón me hace pensar que lo que sucede es que yo soy mucho más profundo.

Ante la avalancha de comentarios que tan generosamente ofrecen al ciberespacio, no quisiera olvidar el recuerdo que Donna realizó del espléndido "Pickwick" de Dickens, y así, hilando Dickens con el tema que tanto tiempo les ha tenido ocupados últimamente (las ostras), imposible resistir la tentación de recordar cierto pequeño episodio en el que los dos Weller, padre e hijo, están sentados en la taberna trasegando pintas de cerveza.
"Muy buena capacidad de absorción, Sammy -dijo el viejo Weller, mirando la jarra que su primogénito había dejado medio vacía-; hubieras sido una ostra extraordinaria, Sammy, si llegas a nacer en esa forma de vida."
(Yo leí la traducción de José María Valverde, y la disfruté muchísimo).
Usted es un gran dickensiano, señor Librepensador, como nos lo muestra al escoger ese pickwickiano texto. Yo siempre utilizo como prueba de si uno es un gran dickensiano el preguntarle cuál de sus novelas es su favorita, si responden Grandes Esperanzas o Tiempos Difíciles sospecho que no lo son.(No quisiera descabalgar su traducción, después de todo, uno le tiene mucho afecto a la primera traducción en que lees una obra, y yo mismo también le daba un valor mítico a la de Valverde(sobre todo indirectamente por su gran traducción de Moby Dick) pero al compararla con la de Ferrer de Bruguera queda empalidecida.
Angelicata, cuando Woody Allen pone un título a una película, lo pone con todas las intenciones. “El sueño de Casandra” es el nombre del barco que compran los dos hermanos. Pero hay un personaje, el de la chica guapa que interpreta Hayley Atwell, que está ideado conforme al mito de Casandra. Casandra, la que enreda o engaña a los hombres, la que tenía el don de la profecía pero, por no ceder a los favores de Apolo (qué tonta), éste le condenó a no ser creída nunca. Ella, de alguna manera, les dijo a los hermanos que les iba a ir fatal, ellos no le hicieron caso y, efectivamente, les fue fatal.
El mito de Casandra es uno de mis preferidos. Es una historia trágica como no hay otra, ella posee el don de ver el futuro y por eso ve cómo todo cuanto conoce y ama va a ser irremediablemente destruido. No puede hacer nada para impedirlo, porque aunque lo diga, nadie lo va a tomar en consideración y cuanto haga sólo servirá para empeorar las cosas y añadir más carga a su propia angustia.
Apolo fue vengativo con ella, ya que al no cumplir el trato, pudo haberla retirado el don que le había regalado, pero en vez de deshacer lo que hizo, "envenenó su regalo" y lo convirtió en una maldición, ya que Casandra seguiría profetizando el futuro, pero nunca nadie la creería.
Sólo fue feliz en el momento de su muerte. Después de ser violada en Troya por Ajax, fue hecha prisionera por Agamenón y viajó a Micenas como su concubina. Allí Casandra también vio su futuro: Clitemnestra, mujer de Agamenón la mataría a ella y a Agamenón.
Eso la hizo feliz, saber que junto a ella, Agamenón, destructor de su patria, fuese asesinado. Esa fue su gran victoria final.
¿Ostras que beben cerveza? Señor Librepensador, eso sí que es un hallazgo.

Liuva, gracias por la aclaración. Estaba pensando en que me parece recordar que en la película "Doce monos" de Terry Gilliam, la doctora analiza en una clase el llamado "Síndrome de Casandra", supongo que haciendo un guiño a lo que le sucede a Bruce Willis.
Desde mi genial punto de vista Casandra bien podría ser un Jeremías femenino, y que no aporta ninguna contribución moral, porque a su desolado vaticinio le falta el motivo purificador de la penitencia.Por ello su previsión del futuro es estéril, la incredulidad con que son acogidas sus palabras no es un motivo extraño a ella, sino intrínseco. Fue un personaje creado por el pesimismo siempre latente en el espíritu helénico;la inutilidad del saber y la oscuridad de la vida de los sentidos parecen ser sus expresiones fundamentales, en las que se niegan por un igual lo absoluto y lo contingente. (No sé si en este blog está prohibido abrazarse(a uno mismo), pero si no lo está, querida anfitriona, me gustaría hacerlo, pues creo que me lo merezco)

¿Cuál es su película favorita de Clint Eastwood, si puedo preguntar? (que sí puedo).
Hace un mes y pico ví esa de "Gran Torino", alabada increíblemente por la crítica. Y digo increíblemente porque yo echaba espumarajos por la boca. (Aunque después de todo, que te alabe la crítica es como que el verdugo te diga lo bonito que es tu cuello).
El otro día compré a un precio muy económico "Sin perdón", que la tengo por ver.
Pero... creí que la alusión al profesor de historia del arte que es un asesino profesional evitaría que entrara en más detalles, The Eiger Sanction, tiene todo lo que yo le pido a una película,asesinatos,escaladas a montañas, diálogos elegantes, un profesor que mata a la gente, bellas señoritas, un albino, un amigo que es increiblemente afeminado y que tiene un perrito(el detalle de que el perrito lo abandona mientras el malvado afeminado se muere de calor y de sed siempre hace que salte de entusiasmo). A mi me gustan sus primeras películas, las últimas con tantos voceros vociferándolas(también es cierto que si no las vociferaran no lo serían) si puedo o no las veo o me duermo con ellas.
Ya veo, señor Anónimo, que está usted encantado de haberse conocido, podría decir que me parecen lamentables los personajes que actúan de tal manera, pero no lo voy a decir porque algunos de ellos se llaman Borges o Saramago.

Como veo que lo de la hibris ya no da más de si(me hubiera gustado de todos modos que lo de la hibris hubiera alcanzado tal desmesurada cantidad de comentarios, miles y miles, que hubiéramos sido castigados por los dioses, bueno, que hubiera sido castigada Donna puesto que es la propietaria del blog) someto a la consideración del ojo público un tema que tortura mi proteica mente últimamente. Como es un tema dado a jocosos comentarios(aunque no sé por qué) sugiero que sólo las mentes serias y formales(como la mía) lo tratemos. En mis inquisiciones acerca de todo(modestamente, me gusta pensar de mí mismo como un Mycroft) cayó en mis manos(supongo que sería mucho más correcto decir bajo mis ojos) un extraño hecho relacionado con la vida de Rousseau.
Se trata del viaje de Rousseau a Gran Bretaña, por lo visto él fue antes y Thérèse tenía que reunirse con él un poco más tard."Thérèse estaba preocupada por el viaje a Londres y sugirió a Boswell que podían viajar juntos; éste aceptó y salieron de parís el 31 de enero de 1766. Boswell estaba muy abatido porque acababa de recibir la noticia de la muerte de su madre, pero después de la primera noche de viaje su ánimo era muy diferente. Thérèse y él compartieron la cama e hicieron el amor trece veces, la mayoría bajo la"dirección" de Thérèse, que después le dijo a Boswell que era muy "vigoroso" pero que le faltaba "Arte"."Rousseau, Gavin de Beer.
La relación de Rousseau con Thérèse Le Vasseur fue muy peculiar. Thérèse era una sirvienta inculta que apenas sabía leer ni escribir. Eso no quita para que tuviera otras cualidades, sobre todo en la intimidad. Rousseau al principio hizo esfuerzos para desarrollar su mente, pero no consiguió gran cosa.
Las limitaciones intelectuales de Thérèse no impidieron que Rousseau viviera con ella tan felizmente y que tuvieran cinco hijos. Me recuerda a las relaciones que tuvieron Hitler y su opaca compañera Eva Braun.
Esos cinco hijos fueron todos enviados a orfanatos, donde se criaron sin que sus padres jamás volvieran a verlos. Esto demuestra la hipocresía moral de Rousseau ya que él predicaba la crianza natural de los niños.
Rousseau sobre este asunto comentó la siguiente astracanada: “Me limito a sostener que, al entregar a mis hijos para que los educara el Estado, por no tener los medios necesarios para criarlos yo mismo, al destinarlos a convertirse en trabajadores y campesinos en lugar de aventureros y cazadores de fortunas, creí haber actuado como ciudadano y como padre y me con¬sideré un miembro de la República de Platón”.
Lamentable, parecen las declaraciones de un político de república bananera.
Según dice usted Thérèse y Boswell compartieron la cama y lo hicieron 13 veces, y va después Thérèse y se queja de su amante. ¡Pero bueno! ¡Qué es lo que quería Thérèse! ¡Por qué no se quejó al principio! Si con Rousseau apenas lo hacían, ya que Rousseau era casi impotente, le dio para sus cinco hijos y poco más.
Boswell fue durante su vida un libertino, un frívolo y un mujeriego. Solía salir de su casa y pasar semanas enteras entre prostíbulos y tabernas. Después volvía a casa con infecciones venéreas, ¡normal! Hasta dónde no llegaría su fama de libertino que en una de las necrológicas que le dedicaron ponía: “estuvo ausente de su domicilio más a menudo que ningún otro autor de su tiempo”.
Y con este pedigrí de Boswell va la Thérèse y dice que no tenía arte en la cama. ¡Menuda pájara!
Gracias Doña Liuva, usted nunca defrauda, incluso cuando me defrauda(caso del libro), tampoco(qué buena paradoja!). Pues parece que tenemos la misma opinión de Rousseau. Sin embargo, por hincarle una pequeña pica, ¿no le parece que Rousseau es el precursor de todos estos sermoneadores e incoherentes intelectuales que tenemos hoy, los Grass, los Saramago? Siempre presumiendo de integridad, dando lecciones a los demás, mirando de reojo a los otros a ver si ven la pose que adoptar, y siempre se le pillan en renuncios, los cinco hijos incluseros, Grass en la ss(incluso el paralelismo es tal que ellos lo confesaron antes de que pudieran hacerlo otros y presumir de sinceros).
Usted nunca desaprovecha la ocasión para meterse con Saramago. Que yo sepa Saramago no ha llevado sus hijos a la inclusa ni estuvo de joven en las SS.
Sinceramente cuando hice mi comentario sobre la hipocresía de Rousseau pensé que usted iba a estar en contra. Ahora que me dice que tenemos la misma opinión estoy casi por cambiar mi comentario.
Perdone, pero es comunista. Ya sé que me dirá que él no ha matado a nadie, pero la verdad veo muy extraño que alguien con impulsos tan moralizantes sobre el capitalismo, pertenezca o simpatice con un partido que ha ocasionado las mayores matanzas de la historia.
Siguiendo con Boswell, a mí lo que me sorprendía era si las trece veces habían sido en una noche o no, si había sido en el barco que les cruzó el canal de la Mancha(lo cual ya me parecía una hazaña de un semidios). No quiero desvelar secretos pero hay un libro, que ya he pedido, y desvela los pormenores del caso y el sentido de los comentarios un tanto despectivos de Thérèse.
¿Y no es un tanto injusta con Boswell? A los veintitantos años ya era amigo de los grandes hombres de la época,el grandioso Voltaire,el gordo Hume, el gran Johnson, el horrible Rousseau y también amó mucho a su mujer pese a sus infidelidades. Y no olvidemos sus dos grandes obras johnsonianas.
Yo creo que 13 veces es un derroche. Y si es en una sola noche es una dilapidación. Eso sólo se puede dar en la letra de un tango. Decía Borges que el tango no era sino un lamento de cornudos, y decía bien. “Quién tuviera 20 años pa’ derrocharlos con madame”, con madame Thérèse.
Bueno, le desvelo el misterio, se trata del famoso y conocido libro de "El perro de Rousseau". Aunque no puedo citarlo con las palabras exactas, puesto que no dispongo de él, no fue en un día y Boswell se hizo acreedor al principio a las duras palabras de la encantadora matrona, pero tras un proceso de enseñanza todo fue mucho mejor. Saludos.
Es cierto que Boswell se codeó con los grandes hombres de la época, pero también es cierto que su familia, abochornada por su fama de libertino, utilizaría su retrato para lanzar dardos contra él.
La familia de Boswell, y siento decirlo, eran un montón de asnos, incluso se avergonzaban de su vida de Johnson. En cuanto a su libertinaje apuesto a que usted,yo o mi abuela hemos llevado una vida parecida, pero no hemos tenido la imprudencia de reflejarlo todo en un diario. Hay un excelente libro que trata de estos detalles de la vida de Boswell y su épica escritura de la vida de Johnson. Se trata de "Presuntuoso afán" de Adam Sisman.
No sé si su abuela de usted era una libertina, imagino que no tanto como su nieto, pero le puedo asegura que yo lo más tarde que he llegado a casa ha sido a las 10, como en la canción de Serrat. Step 4: Set up a proper video output file path
Click the Browse... button next to Output File Name field and select a location on your HDD for the output video file.
NOTE! When you select a location for your output video file, you should save the file to your personal computer HDD.
Step 5: Convert your DVD files
After you have set up all the conversion parameters, hit the Convert Now! button to start converting.
The result of the conversion should be a folder with DVD (or SVCD/VCD) video files that will be recorded onto a disc with the help of the AVS Video Converter internal burning engine. It will be launched automatically when the conversion process is over.
Step 6: Burn your resulting DVD onto a disc
Insert a blank DVD into your computer optical disc drive. Make sure that the disc is compatible with your drive. AVS Video Burner application will be launched to guide you through the burning process so that you could record your converted video onto a disc.
You can select the necessary disc drive if you have several, refresh it and mark the Verify disc check-box to make sure the disc is recorded correctly.
Now click the Start burning! button to begin the recording. Note, that if the disc is not empty you will be offered to erase it. If you do not want to do that, you can eject the disc and use another one instead.
After the burning is over the disc will be ejected automatically. Note, if you checked the Verify disc, the recording will take a little longer depending on the size of the output files as the program will need time to verify them.
